The Master of Legal Studies (MLS) is usually a one-year degree program designed to enhance the effectiveness of professionals whose work involves legal issues, such as regulations, negotiations, or working with lawyers. The MLS program is usually designed for non-lawyers who work regularly with laws and regulations. Graduates will not practice law upon graduation.

Students can often enroll for a different specialisation in law, such as health care, business and corporate law, international law, European law, corporate compliance, sports law, tax law and many others. Most universities offering a Master of Legal Studies will accept individuals with an undergraduate degree in any subject.
